Elizabeth Margaret Ballard-Fichthorn Hedger

Elizabeth Margaret Ballard-Fichthorn Hedger Walked on June 7, 2003, at 10:30 AM at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana. Elizabeth was born July 9, 1913, in Burlington, Iowa, she was of Cherokee, Dakota and Irish descent. She received a Teachers Certificate at the age of sixteen to teach a one room schoolhouse from grades one through eight. Later she attended Northwestern University and the University of Iowa. She also taught in the Hawkeye School District. Later married Clarence Daniel Covey-Trail Hedger and moved to Ohio where she attended Miami University and then became a house wife and a farmer raising two children.

Elizabeth was known for her Calligraphy, fancy writing in the area and she was a member of the Ohio Grange for several years. She is survived by Daughter, Jennifer Jo Hedger; Son and Daughter-in-law, Thomas D. & Susanna L. Beard-Hedger; Nephew, William Fichthorn of Burlington, Iowa and niece, Juanita Erickson of Sperry, Iowa.

Visitation for Elizabeth M. Hedger will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2003, from 12 NOON to 2:00 PM. (Ohio Time) at the Barnes Funeral Home, 109 West Main Street, New Paris, Ohio 45347 with the funeral service at 2:00 P.M. Interment will be held in Springlawn Cemetery in New Paris.
