EFFIE BLEY, age 92, of Somers Twp., Preble Co., OH, went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 22, 2010 at Woodland County Manor. She was born on January 26, 1918 in Washington, DC. She graduated from Maryland Park High School in Prince George County, MD. She was employed by the American Red Cross during WW II in Washington, DC, where she met her husband while he was stationed at the White House. She married Frederick E. Bley on March 9, 1941 in the National Cathedral in Washington, DC. She was an active member of Collinsville Presbyterian Church for over 30 years, serving in leadership rolls as Elder & Deacon. In 1990 she joined the First Southern Baptist Church in Camden, OH. She was President of the Collinsville Home Maker�s Club. She loved to play cards, bowl, sewing and needle work. She was a leader in 4-H, Girl Scouts and the Club Scouts. She was a volunteer for the Heart Association, Cancer and other organizations. She joined the Daughter�s of America in 1985 in Beaufort, S.C. where she and her husband spent several winters. No one was ever left hungry at Effie Bley�s home. She was a country cook with an elegant entertaining style. She was loving and caring and never met a stranger. She and her husband farmed for over 62 years in Butler, Clinton and Preble Counties. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Woodland Country Manor and Dr. James Thomson and all of those who helped the Bley family. Preceded in death by her Husband: Frederick Bley in 2000; Brother: Edward �Buddie� in 1946; Son-in-law: Robert Clayton in 1984.
Survived by Daughters: Ellen (Ted) Willis, Chillicothe, MO, Virginia Lee Clayton, Fairfield, OH; Son: Frederick Bley, Beaufort, S.C.; 9 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren and 6 Great Great Grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at the First Southern Baptist Church, 35 N. Liberty St., Camden, OH with Rev. Greg F. Jackson officiating. Interment will be held in Rose Hill Burial Park, Hamilton, OH. Family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the church.
