Edna J. Goodwin

Edna J. Goodwin, 92 of Gratis Twp., passed away Saturday, May 23, 2020 at her residence. Born on April 23, 1928 in Morgan County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Samuel D. & Ellen (Luster) Lawson. From 1958 to 1973, Edna was a hairdresser and cosmetologist at Ruth’s Beauty Shop in West Carrollton, Ohio and for 13 years she worked at Delco, a division of General Motors in Dayton. She was a devoted member of the Calvary Baptist Church in West Alexandria, where she was the treasurer and member of the choir for many years. In addition to time spent with her family, Edna enjoyed reading and learning about WWII history, quilting, sewing and shopping.

In addition to her parents, Edna is preceded in death by her Siblings: Ovie and Arby Lawson, Ida B. Wells, Lydia M. Back, Orville G. Lawson, Orena Ginter, Ora Ethel Welch, Emma Wilson and Lenzie Lawson; special sister-in-law, Mary Lawson and her Grandson: James R. Berry.

Survived by her Husband of 62 years: James J. Goodwin; Daughter: Sherry E. (Dave) Taulbee; Sister: Nellaveen (Frank) Montgomery and Kathleen (Donald) Morris; Grandchildren: Colby E. (Teresa) Berry, Jody (Cyndi) Berry, Austin J. Berry and Holli J. Berry; 10 great grandchildren and 16 great great grandchildren with whom she shares a special bond with granddaughter, Jaydan Berry; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Barnes Funeral Home, 220 East Main Street, Eaton, Ohio with Pastor David Spears officiating. Interment will be held in Fairmount Cemetery in Camden. Family will receive friends on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
