EDITH C. TUCKER , age 89, of Eaton, Ohio died Monday, June 6, 2005 at Greenbriar Nursing Center in Eaton. Born on February 24, 1916 in Blanchester, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Jacob & Ida May (Wallace) Chamberlin. She was a 1933 graduate of Jefferson Township (Clinton County) High School, attended Wilmington College and Ohio State University and graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio in 1954. She retired in 1979 after 33 years as a teacher in the elementary schools, 27 years with the Eaton City Schools, 4 years in Jackson Township and 2 years in Lanier Township. Member of the Preble County Retired Teachers Association, Preble County Senior Citizens, Preble County Historical Society, First Presbyterian Church in Eaton where she was a active member of the choir and Sunday school. Former member of the Iona Chapter #5 Order of the Eastern Star at Eaton. Preceded in death by husband of 64 years: John F. Tucker in 2001; brother: Luther Chamberlin and sister: Bertha Osborn.
Survived by daughter & son-in-law: Elaine R. & Bruce R. Hawley of Eaton, OH; son: Edward H.Tucker of Eaton, Ohio; brother: Granville Chamberlin of the Otterbein Home at Lebanon, Ohio. Daughter-in-law: Deborah G. Tucker of Eaton, Ohio. Five grandchildren and Thirteen great grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. (Ohio Time) Thursday, June 9, 2005 at First Presbyterian Church -123 West Decatur Street - Eaton, Ohio with Rev. Wayne D. Morrison officiating. Interment will be held in Mound Hill Union Cemetery - Eaton, OH. Family will receive friends on Thursday, June 9, 2005 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the church. Arrangements entrusted to Barnes Funeral Homes - 220 East Main Street - Eaton, Ohio. Memorial Contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church - 123 West Decatur Street - Eaton, Ohio 45320 or Vitas Hospice Care - 11500 Northlake Drive - Cincinnati, Ohio 45249 or to one’s favorite charity.
