E. Wayne Kirkpatrick

E. “Wayne” Kirkpatrick, 81, of New Paris, Ohio, died Monday, December 30, 2024, at Reid Health in Richmond, Indiana. Born on August 25, 1943, in Safe, Missouri, he was the son of the late Elmer Leonard & Ida Irene (Underwood) Kirkpatrick.

Wayne retired from Milestone in Richmond, where he was a heavy machine operator for many years. He had also worked at Bud Reid’s Garage in New Paris, was a substitute bus driver for National Trail, carried mail for the Village of New Paris, served as a volunteer Firefighter for the New Paris Fire Department and served on the Board of Public Affairs in New Paris. He was a proud member and past Master of the Fellowship Lodge #106 in New Paris and was a member of the Operating Engineers Union in Indianapolis. Wayne was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed fishing, hunting and Nascar races but his greatest joy came from his time spent with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Wayne is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 63 years, Darcas Ann (Kelley) Kirkpatrick; daughter and son-in-law, Rhonda and Duane Pickett; son, Darin Kirkpatrick; sisters and brother-in-law, Helen L. Kirkpatrick and Martha I. and Danny Hodge; grandchildren, Kevin (Kristin) Ross and Cassie Bond; great grandchildren, Gage Bond, Riley Ross, Cain Bond and Cooper “Wayne” Bond; nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 4, 2025, at Barnes Funeral Home, 109 West Main Street, New Paris, Ohio with Pastor Rodney Dunn officiating. Interment will be held in Spring Lawn Cemetery in New Paris. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Friday, January 3, 2025, at the funeral home. Masonic Service will be held at 7: 00 p.m.
