DR. HAROLD T. WRIGHT age 87, formerly of Eaton, Ohio. died Monday, October 3, 2005 at Franklin Woods Health Care Center in Columbus, Ohio. Born on August 2, 1918 in Dayton, Ohio, he was the son of the late Harold T. & Helen B. (Kepner) Wright Sr. He was baptized on Easter morning April 20, 1919. A 1936 graduate of Fairmont High School in Kettering, Ohio, he attended the University of Cincinnati and graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio with a Bachelor’s degree in education in 1941. He received his Master’s degree from Miami University in 1948 and his Doctorate degree from Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana in 1957. He served as a weather forecaster during WWII from 1942 to 1946. Following the war he was a chemist at Monsanto Labortories in Dayton until he began his career in education. From 1946 to 1969 Dr. Wright taught and held administrative positions in the Brookville, Wayne Township, Franklin Township and Paulding Exempted Village School Districts. From 1969 to 1981 he was the superintendent of the Eaton City Schools. Member of the Eaton Rotary Club, Bolivar Lodge #82 F & AM in Eaton, the Preble County Council of Aging, Eaton Community Arts Council, United States Chess Federation, Preble County AAA, Dayton and Preble County Chess Clubs, Ancient Accepted Scotish Rite-Valley of Dayton, the National, Ohio and Preble County Retired Teachers Associations, the National Rifle Association, Fort St. Clair Gun Club, Eastern Star and the Antioch Shrine of Dayton. He was a United Way Volunteer. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife: Doris B. (Bigham) Wright in 2003.
Survived by Children: Barry A. Wright of Springfield, Ohio, Dawn A. Moore of Columbus, Ohio, Brenda E. (Jim ) Wright-Noel of Juneau, Alaska and Larry D.(Pamela) Wright of Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Grandchildren: Shawn Wright, Shane Wright, Julia Moore, Elizabeth Wright, Alicia Wright and Alexander Wright; Great Grandchildren: Brandon, Katie, Shane, Jr, Trinity Marie and Jordan Lee.
A Memorial Service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 7, 2005 at the Barnes Funeral Home - 220 East Main Street - Eaton, OH with Rev. Wayne D. Morrison officiating. Interment with full military honors will be in the Mound Hill Union Cemetery in Eaton, Ohio. Memorials may be made to the Eaton Emergency Squad- P.O. Box 27- Eaton, Ohio 45320.
