DOROTHY M. DEAN, age 93 of Eaton, Ohio formerly of Richmond, Indiana, died Monday, March 3, 2003 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana. Born on July 29, 1909 in St. Rose, (Mercer County) Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Frank & Catherine (Luttmer) Piekenbrock. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Catholic Ladies of Columbia and St. Anne’s Sodality. St. John’s Catholic Church in New Paris, Ohio. Preceded in death by Husband: Urban Theodore Hemmelgarn in 1973, Sons: Dale Hemmelgarn in 1985 and Lloyd Hemmelgarn in 1998; Brother: Edward Piekenbrock; Sister: Josephine Landwehr.

Survived by Husband: Dale H. Dean; Daughter: Gladys J. Schutte, Eaton, Ohio; Son: Alan Mark Hemmelgarn, Richmond, Indiana; Brother: Werner Piekenbrock, Dayton, Ohio; Sisters: Sister M. Leonides (Agnes), CPPS, Dayton, Ohio, Clara Meier, St. John, Ohio. 16 Grandchildren, 28 Great Grandchildren, 11 Great Great Grandchildren.

Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2003 - 10:00 A.M. at St. John’s Catholic Church - North Spring Street - New Paris, Ohio with Rev. J. Thomas Fitzsimmons officiating. Interment will be held in Springlawn Cemetery, New Paris, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Friday, March 7, 2003 from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Barnes Funeral Home - 109 West Main St. - New Paris Ohio with rosary service at 7:45 P.M.
