Donald Stevenson

DONALD STEVENSON, 80, of Eaton, OH, died Sunday, May 6, 2012 at Greenbriar Nursing Center in Eaton. Don was born on May 30, 1931 in Camden, OH, son of the late Burley Lee and Dessie (Mackey) Stevenson. He was a 1949 graduate of Camden High School where he played baseball and basketball for 4 years. Don was signed to play baseball with the Cleveland Indians but had to retire due to an injury during summer training. He was a veteran in the United States Army during the Korean War and retired in 1986 from the United States Postal Service in Camden, OH where he was a clerk, assistant postmaster and carrier for 37 years. After retirement Don enjoyed traveling to Myrtle Beach and working together with the love of his life, his wife Norma whom he married on June 12, 1954.

In addition to his parents Don is preceded in death by his brothers, Larry L. and Dale "Pappy" Stevenson and his sister, Dorothy Davenport and nephew, Ronald Davenport.

Don is survived by his wife of 57 years, Norma V. (Schmidt) Stevenson; special nephew and niece, Daniel Stevenson of Cincinnati, OH and Theresa (Stevenson) Baker of Camden; nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2012 at Barnes Funeral Home, 220 East Main Street, Eaton, Ohio with Rev. Jack Masters officiating. Interment will be held in Mound Hill Cemetery in Eaton with full military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard.
