Donald E. Eley

DONALD E. ELEY, 83 of Lewisburg, OH, died Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton. Born on February 12, 1926 in Gettysburg, Darke County, OH, he was the son of the late Frank D. & Fannie Bertha (Howard) Eley. Don retired in 1992 from the maintenance department for the Ohio State Patrol and had also worked at NCR in Dayton for 25 years. A WW II U.S. Army veteran and Life Member of the American Legion Post #665 in West Manchester, OH, Trinity Lutheran Church in Lewisburg and Ohio State Patrol Auxiliary. Preceded in death by his Wife of 60 years: Maxine A. (Huston) Eley on January 2, 2006, Brothers: Dale and Lloyd Eley.

Survived by Son & Daughter-in-law: Alan E. & Kathy Eley; Daughter & Son-in-law: June E. & David Watts, all of Lewisburg, OH. Brother: Glenn Eley, Arcanum, OH; Sisters: Mildred Hoover, Arcanum, OH and Elsie Rayburg, Dayton, OH. Grandchildren: Jason (Kathy) Watts, Vanessa Eley and Greg Eley; Great Grandchildren: Tanner, Taylor, Alexis, Bradley, Austin and Logan.

Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Barnes Funeral Home, 411 N. Commerce St., Lewisburg, OH with Rev. David O. Justis officiating. Interment with military honors by the Preble County Honor Guard will be held in Roselawn Cemetery in Lewisburg. Family will receive friends on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
