Dennis L. Scheiding

Dennis L. Scheiding, age 51 of Eaton, OH and formerly of New Paris, OH died Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, OH. Born on June 6, 1959 in Darke County, OH, he was a 1978 graduate of National Trail High School. Dennis had been a New Paris Police officer and Chief from April 1980 to March 1993 and served as a Preble County Deputy Sheriff from 1993 to 2001. He was a past member of the Buckeye Sheriff Association; F.O.P. Floyd E. Spitler Lodge # 158 and attended Hodgin Road Christian Church in Richmond, IN. Preceded in death by his father Jimmie M. Scheiding in December 2009 and his Sheriff Deputy K-9 partner, Perry vom Karlmitblick.

Simpson of New Paris, OH; Daniel Taylor of Camden, OH; Daughters: Christy Jo Scheiding of New Hampshire; Shannon Taylor of College Corner, IN and Angie Taylor of Camden, OH; Mother & Step-Father: Betty L. (Hartshorn) & Melvin L. Hartman of Eaton, OH and Step-Mother: Linda J. (Hosenfeld) Scheiding of New Paris, OH; Sisters & Brothers-In-Law: Diana & Larry Crye of New Paris, OH; Linda & Greg Craig of Eaton, OH; Lisa Moore of Port Clinton, OH and Holly & Rich Mikolainis of Mokena, IL; 7 Grandchildren: Zane Moore, Tyler Moore, Jaden Moore, Connor Lay, Caleb Simmons, Brendan Simpson and Rebeca Simpson; Several Uncles, Aunts, Nieces & Nephews.

Funeral service will be 10:30 AM Saturday August 21, 2010 at Barnes Funeral Home – 109 West Main Street – New Paris, OH with Rev. Derek Trenum officiating. Interment will be in Springlawn Cemetery – New Paris, OH. Family will receive friends on Friday August 20, 2010 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
