Debra “Debbie” Jean (Reed) Rhome, age 66, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina passed away peacefully at her mother’s home in Eaton, Ohio on Monday, December 11, 2017 after a courageous two-and-a-half-year battle against pancreatic cancer. Debbie was born on February 5, 1951 in Dayton, Ohio the second child of the late Albert “Pete” Reed and Frances Evans. She attended Miamisburg, Ohio High School and graduated in 1969. She worked as a healthcare claims approver and a process consultant during her 35-year career at MetLife Insurance and retired in 2016. She was an avid gardener, a talented crocheter, enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, Mah Jongg and Bunco. Debbie treasured time spent with family and friends.
Debbie is survived by her husband of nearly 35 years, Ronald “Chuck” Rhome of Myrtle Beach; sons: Joseph “Joe” (Janie Holtzman) Taylor of Ohio; Jason (Lesley Thomas) Taylor of Michigan; daughter: Jennifer (Mark) Hammer of Kansas; step-daughters: Lisa (Jeff) Crissman and Leslie Ramirez of Texas; Jodi (Rob) Quinn of Michigan; grandchildren: Marissa, Erica, Maxwell and Levi; step-grandchildren: Amanda (Arwin), Jacob, Jennifer, Syndi, Andrew, Matthew, Rachel, Gretchen and step-great-granddaughter Aubrey; mother: Frances Evans, stepmother: Phyllis Reed; brothers: Al Reed, Doug (Jean) Reed, Gary Reed and Ronnie Reed, sisters: Carol (Glenn) Thompson and Beverly Trichler and step-brother: Rod (Roberta) Demmitt; numerous beloved nieces, nephews and an abundance of cherished friends. Preceded in death by her step-father Les Evans, step-sister: Diana Tragesser; step-brother: Jeff Demmitt and grandson Jonathon Bell.
Family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 P.M. Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Barnes Funeral Home, 220 E. Main St., Eaton, OH. A Celebration of Debbie’s life service will be held 4:00 PM at the funeral home.
