David E. Secrest

David E. Secrest, age 60, of Dayton, Ohio, died Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Kettering Medical Center. Born on January 14, 1949 in Dayton, Ohio he served in the U.S. Army. He had formerly lived in Wayne County, IN and had worked at Rodney Cobb Chevrolet in Eaton, OH. Proceeded in death by his Father: James Secrest and a Sister: Patricia Swartz in 1982. Survived by Son: Raymond (Wendy) Secrest of Dayton, OH; Daughters: Teka Richardson of Richmond, IN; Amber Secrest and Ashlee Secrest both of Irving, TX. Mother: Jeanette Secrest of Dayton, OH; Sisters: Betty Michaels of Dayton, OH, Susan Johnson of Eaton, OH and Cathy Bell of Tipp City, OH; 16 Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at Barnes Funeral Home, 220 East Main Street, Eaton, Ohio with Pastor Ray Sowder officiating. Graveside service will be held 2:00 P.M. at Dayton National Cemetery in Dayton, OH. Family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at the funeral home.

David loved his family and was especially proud of his grandchildren. He was well known for his love of music, and was an accomplished musician. Even though his health had failed, due to his diabetes, his love of music continued to the end. Dearest Family and Friends, we hope that as each of you take time to mourn our father's departure, you will also reflect upon the good times he shared with us. Celebrate these good times as he cherished them all. While his earthly journey is complete, take comfort in knowing that as long as you remember him, he will live on in each of you.
