Darlene M. Snelling

Darlene M. Snelling, 83, of Eldorado, died Wednesday morning, November 4, 2015 at Heartland of Eaton. Darlene was born July 30, 1932 in Preble County, the daughter of Roy & Ethel (Mikesell) Peck. She was a 1950 graduate of Monroe High School, West Manchester, OH. On Oct. 29, 1954, she married James N. "JN" Snelling, and to this union was born one child, their son James N. Snelling II, who was tragically killed in an automobile accident in 1989, along with their grandson Joey Lawson.

Darlene loved being a housewife, mother & grandmother, and she loved animals, especially horses. She & her husband would travel to the King Brothers Rodeos, where "JN" would assist and Darlene would watch all the activities. Later they moved to the country where they were able to have and train horses. Darlene's family was her pride and joy, and horses were her second love.

Survivors include her husband, "JN" Snelling; her 4 grandchildren & 5 great-grandchildren: Eddie (Melissa) Lawson, Ellie & Zach; Justin Snelling, Madison & Austin; Jeannie (Justin) West, Nolan; Jennifer Snelling; 1 step-brother, James (Susan) Grow.

She was preceded in death by her parents & her son and grandson.

The visitation for Darlene M. Snelling will be Saturday, November 7, 2015 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM, with a short service at 4:00 PM at the Bussard-Barnes-Vaniman Funeral Home, 311 N. Main St., Eldorado. Condolences may be sent to the family via Guest Book at www.barnesfuneralhome.com
