Daniel Eugene Lipps, 64, of Richmond, IN, died Saturday, February 23, 2013 at his residence. Born on October 4, 1948 in Richmond, IN, he was the son of the late Carl Eugene and Sarah Cathrine (Lindsey) Lipps. Daniel retired in 2011 from the Richmond State Hospital after 44 years of service. He was a 1966 Jefferson Twp. High School graduate in Preble County and served on the Alumni Association. A member of First United Methodist Church in Richmond where he was active in the choir, Ambassador's Outreach Group, Bible Study and Men's Prayer Group. A former member of the Preble County 4-H Band, member of the Preble County Athletic Hall of Fame and was a longtime volunteer for the Preble County Pork Festival. He was an avid fisherman and gardener.
Survived by Daughter & Son-in-law: Christina Marie & Chad Loveless, Pineville, KY; Brother & Sister-in-law: David R. & Cheryl Lipps, Greenville, OH; Sister & Brother-in-law: Kay Beth & Lon Swihart, Lewisburg, OH. Grandchildren: Kearstin Marie, Christian Stanley and Kassie Lynn Loveless. Nieces, Nephews, Aunts, Uncle, Cousins and a host of friends.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Barnes Funeral Home, 109 West Main Street, New Paris, OH with Pastor Judi Marshall officiating. Interment will be held in Twin Creek Chapel Cemetery, West Manchester, OH. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
