Dallas Marr

Dallas Marr, age 79, of Somerville, Ohio went to be with the Lord on December 31, 2009 at Kettering Medical Center in Kettering, Ohio. Born on January 2, 1930 in Grayson, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Frank & Anna (Morris) Marr. Dallas proudly served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean War for four years, stationed in Norfolk, Virginia aboard the U. S. S. Aldebran.

Dallas was a devout Christian and attended the Eaton First Church of God, where he was very active as a greeter and usher. Dallas also served at the Gratis First Church of God as a Board of Trustee, Church Council, Song Director and was on the Building Committee for the First Meadowlawn Church of God in Middletown, Ohio. Dallas worked as a crane operator for A.K. Steel in Middletown, Ohio. Upon his retirement in 1995 he became a hobby pleasure farmer and enjoyed raising a herd of cattle and general farm work.

Most of all Dallas lived a Christian example before his family, his community and his church. He especially enjoyed his wife, children and grandchildren, as well as friends and neighbors. Dallas never smoked a cigarette, never drank a taste of alcohol, never touched drugs. He was an example of moral integrity and clean living equal to none. He had a wonderful eighty years.

Dallas was a pure servant of the Lord. He donated 12 bone marrow biopsies and many blood samples at The Ohio State University Medical Center in order to help scientists and researchers find a cure for Acute Myloid Leukemia which took his life. The Family wishes to express their gratitude to blood donors. Your act of giving to others allowed Dallas to have quality of life for six months and we are grateful for your gift.

Preceded in death by his sister, Mary Hall and two infant brothers.
