D. Glenn Gilbert

D. Glenn Gilbert, age 92, formerly of Eaton, Ohio died Friday evening, June 11, 2004 at Hubbard Hill Estates in Elkhart, Indiana. Born on November 24, 1911 in New Weston, Ohio he was the son of the late John Wesley & Ida Magdelina (Oettinger) Gilbert. He was a 1930 Ansonia High School graduate and received his Bachelor’s of Science from Cedarville College in Cedarville, Ohio. During the 1940's he was a school teacher in Mercer and Darke counties, Ohio at Straeker, Lightsville, Willowdale, Fort Jefferson and Happy Corner. He was a Timekeeper at Mersman’s factory in Celina and a timekeeper for 29 years at Frigidaire in Dayton, Ohio. Member of Ansonia Lodge (Versailles) Masonic (FAM, AASR) Lodge, Ansonia Lodge (Ft. Recovery) Eastern Star, First Presbyterian Church in Eaton, Ohio and Ohio Teacher’s Association.

Preceded in death by Wife: Pauline Lucille (Trace) Gilbert in 1998, Brothers: Ernest Gilbert, Andrew Gilbert, Wesley L. Gilbert, Odis Gilbert and John Gilbert. Sisters: Sarah Sneary, Ruth McHaffie.

Survived by Son & Daughter-in-law: Wayne A. & Roseann Gilbert of Madison, Indiana and Daughter & Son-in-law: Carol Ann & Ronald P. Miller of Elkhart, IN., Sister: Naomi H. Moomaw of Miamisburg, Ohio. Three Grandchildren: Tara A. Bailey, Trace W. Gilbert and David G. Miller, Great Granddaughter: Lauren Elisabeth Bailey.

Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. (Ohio Time) Wednesday - June 16, 2004 at Barnes Funeral Home - 220 East Main Street - Eaton, Ohio with Rev. Wayne D. Morrison officiating. Interment will be in Mound Hill Union Cemetery - Eaton, Ohio. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 15, 2004 from 4 to 7 P.M.
