Cossette I. Collins

COSSETTE I. COLLINS, age 95 of Eaton, OH went home to her reward on Monday, June 3, 2019.  Regarded as one of the most peaceful passings they had ever witnessed at Reid Health in Richmond, IN.  Born on August 16, 1923 in New Paris, OH, to Earl & Lilly (Shurte) Bradshaw.  She was a 1940 graduate of Jefferson High School in New Paris, the last survivor of her class.  Married to James R. Collins, Jr. the love of her life on March 16th, 1946.  She had worked as a housekeeper, head cook at Kitchel School in Union County, IN and National Trail in Gettysburg, OH.  She retired in 1989 from J E Parker Poultry after 16 years on the trim line.

Cossette enjoyed spending time with family and friends, sharing memories, cooking and eating good food.  She made the most amazing fried chicken you ever put in your mouth.  She wasn’t exactly a football fan but she watched the Super Bowl, and cheered and jeered the Green Bay Packers.  She also loved Peyton Manning no matter who he was playing for.  She enjoyed good music and loved to go to the concerts put on by the Eaton Community Chorus which her Granddaughter sang with.

She is remembered as a gentle soul, with a quick wit and a great sense of humor.  She left a lasting impression in everyone she met, whether she knew them for years or only a few short hours.  She had an infectious smile and laugh, always spoke her mind and she loved a good joke, even blue ones.

Cossette is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James Collins, 2 brothers, Robert Bradshaw and Charles Bradshaw, 2 sisters, Jennie Jones and Alberta Knox, several nieces and nephews and son-in-law, Ernie Henemyre.

She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca (Collins) Henemyre; granddaughter, Katherine Henemyre; numerous nieces & nephews and good friends and the entire family of Loren Elmo & Tessie Dare.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.  Condolences via www.barnesfuneralhome.com
