Cordell M. "Mike" Petry

Cordell M. “Mike” Petry, Cordell M. “Mike” Petry, 81, of Avon Park, Florida, died Sunday, July 4, 2021 in Sebring, Florida. Born on April 14, 1940 in Dayton, Ohio, he was the son of the late Carl M. & Thelma M. (Wisener) Petry.

Mike was baptized in the Church of the Brethren in Dayton, Ohio and delivered newspapers for the Dayton Daily News while he was in high school, graduating from West Carrollton, Ohio High School in 1958. He graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio with a degree in Business. From 1962–1965 he served in the US Army security agency, Frankfurt, Germany. He returned from Germany and worked for a CPA in Fort Lauderdale, Florida from 1965-1970. Earning an advanced accounting degree from the University of Florida in 1971 and later his CPA Florida Certificate in 1973 while living in the Jacksonville, Florida area from 1971-1980. Mike moved to Avon Park, Florida in 1980 and served as a comptroller for Peace River Electric Coop in Wauchula, Florida, retiring in 2002.

Mike spent many Summers in Lima, Ohio with his sister Tonita (Toni). He attended Union Congregational Church at Avon Park. Traveling was his favorite interest. He traveled to all 50 states and visited over 40 countries spanning 6 continents.

Survived by his Sister: Tonita L. Flint, Lima, Ohio; Niece: Tonya K. (Jeff) Summers, Spencerville, Indiana, and Nephew: Jerry L. (Dayna) Flint, Johnston, Iowa, Great Nieces: Bayley (Matt) Johnson Chaska, Minnesota; Emily Summers, Columbus, Indiana. Great Nephew: Jacob Summers, Spencerville. Indiana and many Cousins.

Family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, July 13, 2021, at Barnes Funeral Home, 220 East Main Street, Eaton, Ohio. The funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Pastor Mick Miller officiating. Interment will be held in Concord Cemetery, Dixon Twp., Preble County, Ohio with full military honors by the Preble County Honor Guard.
