Christine (Mullins) Hoel, 84, of Camden, Ohio died Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at Vancrest in Eaton, Ohio. She was born on May 28, 1926, in Climax, Kentucky, daughter of the late John H. & Dollie E. (Mullins) Marsh. On December 24, 1943, Christine married Warren Hoel in Coleman, Texas. Christine graduated in 1945 from Camden High School in Camden and in 1946 from the Hamilton Business College in Hamilton, Ohio with a certificate in Business. Christine worked in Accounting at Rike’s in Dayton, Ohio and in the number two mill office at Champion Paper in Hamilton. Christine retired in 1967 after six years as a cook for Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
Christine was a member of the Camden United Methodist Church for 61 years and had attended for over 70 years, serving the church in many capacities such as, Administrative Council Member, chaired the Evangelism Committee, went on the walk to Emmaus, twice Past President of the United Methodist Women, attended the Schools of Mission at University of Northwestern Ohio for several years and was a District Officer for the United Methodist Women of Dayton South.
Christine enjoyed gardening with Warren and operating a small vegetable stand near their home and she loved and treasured her family dearly, just as “God’s word” says to do.
Christine was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Warren Hoel, in 1998, and is survived by children and spouses: Elaine and Joe Spangler of Las Vegas, Nevada; Linda and Michael Head of Fairfield, Ohio; Glenn and Nancy Hoel of Limestone, Maine; Warren Alan and Julie Hoel of Lillington, North Carolina; and Joanie (Michael Mitchell) Staley of Camden, Ohio; grandchildren: Tessa, Melissa, Justin, Danielle, Max, Andrew, Brian, who made his home with his grandparents for 14 years, Rinda, Franklin, Christine and Daniel; great-grandchildren: Skylar, Breanna, Daphne, Emily, Patrick, Carol, Matthew and Trenton; sister: Geneva Gilb of Fort Thomas, Kentucky; niece: Charmaine Pfister of Lexington, Kentucky; nephews: Douglas Gilb and Scot Gilb both of Fort Thomas, Kentucky; aunt: Mary Mullins of Dayton, Ohio; cousins, and friends.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the Camden United Methodist Church, 100 South Lafayette Street, Camden, Ohio, with Fred Schmidt officiating. Interment will be held at Fairmount Cemetery in Camden, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Monday, January 17, 2011, from 4 to 7p.m. at the Nein – Barnes Funeral Home, 249 North Main Street, Camden, Ohio 45311, and one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Tuesday.
