CHARLOTTE B. FLORENCE age 92 of Eaton Ohio died Thursday, July 12, 2012 at Greenbriar Nursing Center in Eaton, OH. Born on November 30, 1919 in Eaton, Ohio the daughter of the late Chester A. & Marie (Alexander) Burns, Sr. A 1937 graduate of Eaton High School she received her Bachelor's Degree in English and Music from Ohio Wesleyan University. She graduated from the Proctor School of Music. She worked for Rike's in Dayton for 25 years as a Fashion Floor Supervisor, Customer Relations and a representative and fashion model until 1965. During 1972 to 1979 she served as the Deputy Clerk for the Preble County Common Pleas Court in Eaton. She retired in 1987 after seven years as Secretary – Receptionist for the Preble County Counseling Center.

Charlotte was a member and past organist at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Eaton where her mother was the choir director. She was active in the Republican Women's Club; former Regent of the D.A.R.; member of Kappa Alpha Theta National Sorority; Mu Phi Epsilon Music Honorary; past member Omicron Sigma Sorority; Literacy Coalition; United Way Volunteer; Preble County Swingers and Lyric Club. She raised Cocker Spaniel puppies and loved to travel.

Preceded in death by brothers: Robert Alexander Burns in 2004 and Chester Allen Burns, Jr. in 2002; Nephew: Chester Allen Burns, III. in 2011; Great Niece: Rachel Ramsey in 2009 and sister-in-law: Jean Burns in 1985.

Survived by Nieces: Bobbie Cahill, TX, Jennifer Ramsey, Dayton, OH and Rebecca Bonner, Cleveland, OH; Nephew: Greg (Vicki) Burns of VA; Great Nephews: Jeff (Debbie) Dechert, Fort Wayne, IN, Brett Cahill of TX, Stephen (Ashley) Burns of VA, Robert (Stacy) Alexander of CA; Great Nieces: Lora (Gary) Wilkins of TX, Emily Burns and Alison Burns, both of VA, Kristina (Lenny) Dreslinski, Cleveland, OH; 6 Great Great Nephews and 5 Great Great Nieces and sister-in-law: Rhea Burns of Clayton, OH.

Funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Barnes Funeral Home 220 East Main Street Eaton, Ohio with Rev. Chris Farmer officiating. Family will receive friends Tuesday, July 17, 2012 one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Mound Hill Cemetery in Eaton, OH.
