CHARLIE BALLINGER, age 84, of Eaton, Ohio died Thursday, April 1, 2010 at his residence in Eaton, Ohio. Born on February 4, 1926 in Bummer, Rockcastle County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Eddie Lee & Lona (Abney) Ballinger. Charlie proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Charlie retired in 1991 as a superintendant of American Aggregates in Fairfield, Ohio. He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Camden, Ohio.

Charlie is preceded by his step grandson, Johnny "Wesley" Watkins in 2009; twin brothers, Roy and Robert L. Ballinger; brothers, Mitchell, Virgil, Leonard, Casper and Hobart Ballinger; sisters, Edith Hellard and Mary Lou Clark; half sister: Myrkie Ann Ballinger; grandson: Dannie Virgil Ballinger in 1978; step brothers: Joe McNally, Ed Clark.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 20 years, Elizabeth "Betty" (Asbury) Ballinger of Eaton, Ohio; sons & daughters-in-law, Dan & Judy Ballinger of Cincinnati, Ohio and Charlie Glenn & Glenda Ballinger of Hamilton, Ohio; daughter & son-in-law, Myrtle & Merl Vanzant of Cincinnati, Ohio; step daughter & husband, Deborah L. & Lloyd Little of Slade, Kentucky; step daughter, Susan Boyd Martin of Stanton, Kentucky; step sons, James F. Watkins of Eaton, Ohio and John W. Watkins of Somerset, Kentucky; brothers, Marion Ballinger of Hamilton, Ohio and Dennis Ballinger of Camden, Ohio; sisters-in-law, Hazel Ballinger of Ross, Ohio, Thelma Ballinger of Orlando, Kentucky, Alice E. Ballinger of Camden, Ohio and Lydia Ballinger of Richmond, Indiana; half sisters, Belle Ballinger, Linda Montjoy, Betty Newcomb, all of Mt. Vernon, KY, Dorothy Shepherd, Fairfield, OH and Evelyne Rusk, Cincinnati, OH; half brothers, Bobby and Billy Ray Ballinger, both of Hamilton, OH; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at the First Southern Baptist Church, 35 North Liberty Street, Camden, Ohio 45311 with Rev. Trevor Bridgeford officiating.

Interment will be held in Fairmount Cemetery in Camden, Ohio with full military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard.

Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, April 5, 2010 at the First Southern Baptist Church and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital, 3229 Burnet Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45229-3095.
