Charles Edward "Chuck" Gardner

Charles Edward “Chuck” Gardner, formerly of Lewisburg, Ohio, died on Friday, Jan. 5, 2018 at his residence in Evans, Georgia surrounded by his loving family.  Born on Jan. 25, 1942 in Dayton, Ohio, son of the late Henry & Verna (Sorrell) Gardner.  He graduated from Lewisburg H. S. and earned a B.S in Orgnz’l Mngmt from Wilberforce University.  Retired in 1998 from GM, Delco Products, Inland in Vandalia, OH after 36 years, as an Ops Manager.  Member of the Merchants of Columbia County in Georgia.  Member of the Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Evans, Georgia.  Chuck proudly served his country as a Captain and Company Commander of the Ohio National Guard in Greenville, Ohio. 

Preceded in death by Brother: Joseph Gardner; Sister, Marjorie Werner; Brothers-in-law: David Protzman and Rick Gilmer. 

Survived by Wife of 28 years: Carol (Glenn) Gardner; Son: Christopher Gardner; Sisters: Patty Protzman, Ann (Dennis) O’Dell, Angie (Tom) Todd and Debbie (John Kirkman) Gilmer; Brother: Henry “Bud” (Terri) Gardner, and Sister-in-law: Judy Gardner; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Chuck was cared for with loving hands and hearts by the doctors, nurses and aids of Medical Oncology Associates and SouthEast Hospice of Augusta, Georgia as he battled pancreatic cancer and passed to be with our Lord Jesus Christ. 

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, Jan. 12, 2018 at Barnes Funeral Home, 411 N. Commerce St., Lewisburg, OH.  Interment will be held in Royal Oak Memorial Gardens in Brookville, OH with full military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard.  Family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, Jan. 11 at the funeral home.
