Charles E. Lipscomb

CHARLES E. LIPSCOMB, age 81, of Eaton, Ohio, died Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at Kindred Hospital in Dayton, Ohio after a lengthy illness . Born on December 9, 1924 in Warren County, Ohio, he was the son of the late Grover Cleveland & Anna Marie (George) Lipscomb. He was a WWII U.S. Army veteran and a forklift operator for Fisher Body in Hamilton, Ohio for 30 years retiring in 1978. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Eaton and was the owner/operator of Charlie’s Lunch in Eaton in the 1950's - 1960's and was a collector of hats and pens and helped build several homes, churches and other structures in the Eaton area. He is preceded in death by son: William Cole in 1991, daughter: Betty Harrison in 2000; brothers: James “Bud” Lipscomb in 1985, George Lipscomb in 1979, Ralph Lipscomb in 1990, John “Dickie” Lipscomb in 1975 and Earl Lipscomb in 1955; sisters: Ruth Bauer in 1974, Dorothy Sizemore in 1966, Viola Stikeleather in 1986 and Helen Bryant in 2003.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years: Lena R. (Hayes) Lipscomb; Son & daughter-in-law: Kenneth & Ruby Lipscomb of Eaton, Ohio and Daughter & son-in-law: Janice & Robert Watt of West Alexandria, Ohio; brother: Wayne “Tippy” Lipscomb of North Carolina and sisters: Sue Greathouse of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Martha Griffith of Dayton, Ohio. Twelve grandchildren and twenty -two great grandchildren. Nieces and Nephews.

Family will receive friends on Sunday, April 23, 2006 from 5 - 8 P.M. at the Barnes Funeral Home - 220 East Main St. - Eaton, Ohio. Funeral Service will be held at the convenience of the family with Rev. Lowell T. Spencer and Rev. Fred Hill officiating. Interment will be held in Mound Hill Union Cemetery in Eaton with full military graveside service by the Preble County Honor Guard.
