Carolyn Joyce (Bright) Mull, 84, of New Paris, Ohio was ushered peacefully into her great reward with her Lord and Savior on April 10, 2022, surrounded by many loving family members.
Carolyn was born to Simeon A. and Hilda (Knott) Bright on April 16, 1937 in Richmond, Indiana. She had one brother, Simeon F. Bright (Sonny).
In 1956, Carolyn met Norman Mull, when he “fell over her desk at work,” and they were married 6 months later that year at her parent’s home. Carolyn and Norman went on to have four sons: Daniel, Jim, Rick, and David.
Carolyn graduated from Jackson High School, Campbellstown, Ohio in 1955.
In addition to being a dedicated and loving wife and mother, Carolyn, also known as “Cycle Sam,” loved riding motorcycles and managed the Running Springs mini-bike farm and Campground. Many fond memories were shared over the years at family reunions, as well as numerous activities on the family farm (too many to mention).
Carolyn was a faithful member for 59 years at St Paul United Methodist Church in New Paris, Ohio. She served in many capacities including music ministry, serving many meals to the Kiwanis for 20 years, was a member of the UMW (United Methodist Women) and so much more.
In 1994, Carolyn and Norman opened the Pathway Rec Center sowing seeds into the Pathway Kids for the next 15 years. Carolyn and Norman were also inducted into the National Trail Hall of Fame for over 20 years of support to the Cross-Country team. She was a servant who enjoyed working behind the scenes in many areas, without needing to be recognized for her service. Carolyn was passionate about so many things, but the most important gift was her family.
Carolyn is lovingly remembered by her husband of 65 years, Norman Mull; sons Daniel (Angela), Jim, Rick (Shelly) and David;12 grandchildren: Nigel (Jadwiga), Amanda (Marc), Alex (Tyler), Kristin (Matt), Ben, Roger (Katie), Leah (Vinny), Keaton, Victoria (Chris), Bethany, Krista (Stephen) and Keith, and 8 great grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members; also bonus son, Steve (Sharon) Vanzant; and special long-time friend/pen pal from Kumasi Ghana in West Africa: George Tabi (Henrieta), and his children, Norman and Carolyn Tabi, named after Norman and Carolyn Mull.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Simeon A. and Hilda Bright; and her brother, Simeon F. “Sonny” (Mary Ann).
A Celebration of Carolyn’s Life will be held at 6:00 pm on Thursday, April 14, 2022, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 301 E Main St, New Paris, OH, 45347 with Pastor Mike Shaeffer officiating. Family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 PM.
Now that Carolyn has passed into the arms of our Lord, we should remind ourselves that while this is the end of Carolyn’s physical life on Earth, it’s the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey for her. It was her biggest desire for all those that she knew and loved to come to the saving knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
