Bruce Robert Hawley, age 71 of Eaton, Ohio died Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Hospice of Dayton, Ohio. Born on May 9, 1938 in Jefferson Township, Preble County, Ohio he was the son of the late Robert Bruce & Mary M. (Trace) Hawley. He graduated in 1956 from Eaton High School and was a bus driver for 13 years with Eaton City Schools. Bruce proudly served in the U. S. Navy from 1956 to 1957. Bruce enjoyed construction and plumbing his whole life and retired in 1999 from Hawley & Hawley. He and his father had proudly built many of the homes & businesses in Eaton. Bruce would often say, "Another fine home built by Hawley & Hawley." He was a special deputy for 6 years with the Eaton City Police Department and for 22 years with the Preble County Sheriffs Department. Bruce also was in real estate for 15 years as Bruce R. Hawley Realtor. Member and active in the JC's at Eaton, Ohio. Bruce was also an Eagle Scout and was very active in the Boy Scouts. Member of the First Presbyterian Church in Eaton, Ohio and served the church as an elder for many years. Preceded by his sister, Elaine Hawley in 1947.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Elaine R. (Tucker) Hawley of Eaton, Ohio; daughters, Kimberly Sue Johnson of Eaton, Ohio and Christina L. Hawley & Tracy Mobley of West Jefferson, Ohio; son & daughter-in-law, Robert B. & Karen Hawley of Powell, Ohio; brother & sister-in-law, Edward A. & Kimberly Hawley of Centerville, Ohio; sister & brother-in-law, Cheryl A. & Arnold Asher of Mississippi; grandchildren, Adriane & Shawn Guinn, Amber Johnson, Allison Johnson, Aaron Johnson, Jayce Hawley & Chelsey Collins, Tracy "J.R." Mobley, Nicholas "Nick" Hawley, Brittany Hawley and Olivia Hawley; great grandchildren, Malikii Bruce Guinn, Gabriel Guinn, Connor Edward Robert Cook, Joseph Hawley and three more expected later this year; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Thursday, April 22, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church, 123 West Decatur Street, Eaton, Ohio 45320 with Rev. Wayne Morrison officiating. Interment will be in Mound Hill Cemetery in Eaton, Ohio with full military honors provided by the Preble County Honor Guard.
Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at Barnes Funeral Home, 220 East Main Street, Eaton, Ohio 45320 and from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at the First Presbyterian Church, 123 West Decatur Street, Eaton, Ohio 45320.
