Bruce G. Blankenship, age 78 of Jacksboro, TN, died Friday, January 10, 2014 at his residence. Born on October 30, 1935 in Farmersville, OH, he was the son of the late Walter E. & Martha (Rice) Blankenship. He retired from Emory Worldwide after 25 years of service. He was a U.S. Marine and Air Force veteran having served in the Korean Conflict. He had also worked for McDonnell Douglas and the Dayton Fire Department. He was a Lifetime Member of the VFW Post #3288 in Brookville, OH.
Preceded in death by his Wife: Wilda J. (Gibson) Blankenship in 2006; Brothers: Walter Edwin, Marvin and Kenneth Blankenship; Sister: Melissa Sue Norvell.
Survivors include Daughter: Tammy Blankenship, Jacksboro, TN; Brothers: Roger (Mildred) Blankenship, Lewisburg, OH, Steve Blankenship, Brookville, OH, Joe Blankenship and David Blankenship, both of California; Sisters: Janice Thomas, June Ellen Blankenship, and Ondalea Keppel, all of Gettysburg, OH. Granddaughter: Geneal E. M. Duer, Jacksboro, TN; Numerous Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and Friends.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 P.M. at the Barnes Funeral Home, 411 N. Commerce St., Lewisburg, OH followed by a graveside service at 1:00 P.M. in Roselawn Cemetery in Lewisburg with military services by the Preble County Honor Guard.
