Brondell Ray Potter

Raymond (Ray) Potter, Jr. age 91, of Eaton, OH, died Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Hospice of Dayton. Ray was born on December 28, 1926 in Waynesboro, Pennsylvania the son of the late Brondell R. & Helen J. (Barnes) Potter, Sr. He was a graduate of Waynesboro, PA high school; attended the University of Pittsburgh and Millersville University, attaining a B.S. Education degree and M.S. degree credits in Human Resource Management from Indiana University. He was awarded SPHR certification (Senior Professional in Human Resources) by the Society for Human Resource Management. 

Ray was a W.W. II veteran, serving in the American and European theaters, with the Army Air Corps and the U.S. Air Force as a second lieutenant. He had lived in the York, Pa area for 45 years and moved to Eaton in 2006. He was the Office Manager for the Insurance Company of North America and Personnel Director for Reid Hospital in Richmond, IN and had been employed as a Human Resource Director with several companies and later established Potter & Associates Human Resource Management consulting firm, serving as Principal Consultant. 

Throughout his career, Ray was the President of the Junior Chamber of Commerce in Richmond, IN; Personnel Association, Toastmasters International; Appalachian Hospital Personnel Society; York Society for Human Resource Management and the Management Association of York County. 

Ray lectured and conducted courses on Human Resource Management, Supervisory Development, Employment Placement and Entrepreneurship. He had various published articles on human resource management and received awards for services to the York Y.M.C.A., Chamber of Commerce, Management Association and SCORE International serving as the Vice-Chairman. Upon his retirement, he served as Leader of Job Searchers, Inc. a non-profit, volunteer, service group helping unemployed people obtain employment and was a Trustee for the Preble County Council of Aging.  

Preceded in death by son: Van Lee Potter in 1954; sister: Geneva Snellinburg in 1991; nephew: James A. Snellenburg. Survived by his Wife of 64 years: Lida Mae (Grant) Potter; niece: Susan Lee Hagey.

A graveside Service was held at the convience of the family at Roselawn Cemetery in Lewisburg, OH with Rev. Raymond Rothwell officiating. Arrangements entrusted to Barnes Funeral Home, 220 East Main Street Eaton, Ohio. Condolences may be sent via www.barnesfuneralhome.com
