BILLY J. “Bill” SEWERT age 79, of Lewisburg, Ohio died Wednesday, January 22, 2003 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton after an extended illness. Born on November 27, 1923 in Dayton, Ohio son of the late Henry J. & Florence L. (Bunger) Sewert. 1942 Lewisburg Union High School graduate and a W.W. II U.S. Army Veteran receiving the Purple Heart Medal. He had worked for the Dayton Daily News and retired in 1985 from Kramer-Moeller Funeral Home and Furniture Store in Lewisburg. Member and Past Chief of Lewisburg Fire Department, Charter member Lewisburg Emergency Unit, Preble County Fireman’s Association and past Secretary-Treasurer, L.E.P.C. of Preble County, Lewisburg Lions Club, American Legion Past Commander, V.F.W. , D.A.V. , Lewisburg Chamber of Commerce, Past Member Lewisburg Village Council and BPA, Lewisburg United Methodist Church, Tri-County North Hall of Fame Committee and a avid Tri-County North School athletics supporter, Register Herald Correspondent, a love of which he had for writing, Outstanding Senior Citizens of Preble County. Preceded in death by two Sisters: Virginia Miller in 1969 and Josephine L. Good in 1998.

Survived by: Wife of 54 years: Marjorie (Cahill) Sewert, Sons & Daughters-In-Law: B.J. & Jackie Sewert of Lewisburg, Ohio and Jeff & Del Sewert of Brookville, Ohio. Grandson: Kyle Sewert whom he loved deeply, Several Nieces and Nephews.

Funeral Service will be held on Monday, January 27, 2003 - 11:00 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church - 511 North Commerce St. - Lewisburg, Ohio with Rev. Michael D. Pratt, Rev. Brent L. Cavendish and Rev. David O. Justis officiating. Interment will be held in Roselawn Cemetery, Lewisburg, Ohio with full military graveside service by the Preble County Honor Guard. Family will receive friends on Sunday, January 26, 2003 from 2 - 6 P.M. at Barnes Funeral Home - 411 North Commerce Street -Lewisburg, Ohio and One Hour prior to service at the church.
