Betty H. Gilmer

BETTY H. GILMER, age 85 of Lewisburg, Ohio, died Thursday, February 3, 2005 at Brookhaven Nursing and Care Center - Brookville, Ohio. Born on February 12, 1919 in Portsmouth, Ohio she was the daughter of the late Dr. Edmond & Josephine (Denton) Coffman. She was a 1936 graduate of Portsmouth High School and had attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. In the 1940's she worked at the Homestore in Dayton, Ohio and from 1968 to 1979 she worked for the Lewisburg Pharmacy. A devoted wife and mother she had been active in the Lewisburg P.T.A., a den mother for the Cub Scouts and was a dance instructor. From 1980 to 1982 she served on the Lewisburg Village Council and the Lewisburg Park Board. Mrs. Gilmer was the first President of the American Legion Auxilary Post # 213 and was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star both of Lewisburg. Member of the Lewisburg United Methodist Church. Preceded in death by her Husband: Richard W. Gilmer in 2004; Sisters: Emily Coffman, Kate McGarey and Joanne Sauer.

Survived by Sons and Daughters-in-law: R. Kip & Vicki Gilmer of Mason, Ohio, Richard W. & Carol Gilmer, Jr. of Bryan, Ohio, Randall E. & Laurie Gilmer of Spring, Texas and Kim A. & Lynn Gilmer of Columbus, Ohio; Daughter: Sharon L. Gilmer Cannavino of Spring, Texas; Brother: Bob Coffman. Twelve Grandchildren, Two Great Grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be held at - 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 8, 2005 at the Lewisburg United Methodist Church - 200 W. Dayton St. - Lewisburg, Ohio with Rev. Hal Copley officiating. Interment will be held in Roselawn Cemetery in Lewisburg. Family will receive friends Monday, February 7, 2005 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Barnes Funeral Home - 411 North Commerce Street - Lewisburg, Ohio and one hour prior to the service at the church. Eastern Star Service will be held at 7: 45 P.M. on Monday.
