BERNARD F. & HELEN E. (MILLER) HERRMANN, both age 79, of New Paris, Ohio, died Sunday, August 17, 2008 at Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana as a result of an auto accident on East Main Street in Richmond.
Bernard, born on November 25, 1928, in Connersville, Indiana, was the son of the late Edward H. & Louise M. (Roell) Herrmann. Helen, born on March 14, 1929, in Monroe Township, Preble County, Ohio, was the daughter of the late Stanley K. & Tresa (Royer) Miller. Bernard & Helen graduated in 1947 from Monroe High School in Preble County, Ohio. They were High School Sweethearts and were married for 59 years since May 28, 1949.
They retired in 1989; Bernard from Dana Corp in Richmond after 33 years as a Machine Repairman and Helen from C. R. Coblentz Schools after 23 years as a Cook. Bernard was also a School Bus Driver for 19 ½ years for C. R. Coblentz Schools which is currently known as National Trail Schools and consists of Jefferson, Jackson, and Monroe Townships in Preble County, Ohio. Bernard was a Member of the Dana Retirees Club. They were active members of St. John's Catholic Church in New Paris for many years and both a patriarch and matriarch of the church. Helen was a member of St. Ann's Sodality.
Preceded in death by Bernard's brother, Albert Herrmann; Helen's brother, Roland Miller; Bernard's sister, Stella Berg; Helen's sisters, Margaret Miller, Martha Lamb, Ada Mae Etter and Dorothy Yake.
Survivors include children & spouses, Tresa & Terry Davis of Eaton, Mary & Denny Ross of Greenville, Bernie & Sondra Herrmann of New Paris, Betty & Mark Weedy of Carroll, Ohio and Ed & Cindy Herrmann of New Paris; Bernard's brothers & sisters-in-law, Ed & Jan Herrmann of Halls, Tennessee, John & Donna Herrmann of Eldorado, Bob & Sharon Herrmann of Eldorado and Paul & Mildred Herrmann of Richmond; Helen's brother, Dale Miller of Lewisburg; Bernard's sisters & brother-in-law, Catherine Norris of Richmond and Helen & Harold Parks of Fredericktown; Helen's sisters & brothers-in-law, Jeanette Elleman of New Paris, Roberta & Doug Sebastian of Florida and Judy & Bob Clock of Eagle, Colorado; grandchildren, Todd (Shannon) Davis, Tim (Suzie) Davis, Tracy Kutter, Denny (Amy) Ross, Cory Herrmann, Kyle (Lauren) Herrmann, Tiffany Walker, Miranda (Austin Kocher) Walker and Ryan Herrmann; great grandchildren, Sean, Tyler, Brady, Trevor, Melanie and Cole ; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 21, 2008 at St. John's Catholic Church, North Spring Street, New Paris, Ohio with Rev. J. Thomas Fitzsimmons officiating. Interment will be held in Spring Lawn Cemetery in New Paris, Ohio.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 20, 2008 from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Barnes Funeral Home, 109 West Main Street, New Paris, Ohio with Rosary Service at 7:45 P.M.
