Artis B. Ketring

Artis B. (Fleenor) Ketring, 98, formerly of Eldorado, OH, died Tuesday, February 21, 2014 at the Brethren Retirement Center in Greenville, OH. She was born December 5, 1915 in Bristol, VA, daughter of the late James C. & Hattie Viola (Reynolds) Fleenor. Artis was currently a member of the First United Methodist Church of Greenville, a member of the Eldorado United Methodist Church for over 50 years, and a lifetime member of the Eastern Star of New Madison. On May 30, 1936 she and the love of her life, Gayle Ketring, eloped and spent 64 years of marriage together prior to his death in 2000. They lived in Eldorado from 1945 to 1995, where she worked for many years for the village grocery. They bowled in several leagues with their friends. She also enjoyed gardening, was a wonderful cook, and liked nothing better than to help and care for others – something that she demonstrated on a daily basis.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Gayle Turner (2007); 7 sisters: Charmie, Ursula, Martha, Sylvia, Annabelle, Mary, Ruby; 3 brothers: Ernest, Karl, Charles "Reed".

Survivors include her daughter, Linda Turner of Greenville, OH; 2 granddaughters, Christine (Michael) Gardner, Howell, MI & Janelle (Randy) King, Granville, OH, and 2 great- grandsons, Ryan & Jarrett King of Granville, OH; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be Tuesday, February 25, 2014, 11:00 AM at the Bussard-Barnes-Vaniman Funeral Home, 311 N. Main St. Eldorado, OH with Pastor Angela Meeks officiating. Burial will follow in Twin Creek Cemetery, West Manchester, OH. Friends may call Monday, February 24, 2014 from 4:00PM – 7:00PM at the funeral home, with the Eastern Star service at 7:00PM.
